Make Your Own Chocolate Covered Strawberries for Valentine’s Day

Do you want to win over that special someone in your life this Valentine’s Day? Forget the store-bought chocolate covered strawberries, make them yourself! There is nothing like express your true feelings in the kitchen. The best part is that this is so very easy to make at home!

We here at Workman’s Friend want to help make this Valentine’s Day super special. Here is all you will need to prepare this delicious, chocolate treat…

MAKING CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES AT HOME

INGREDIENTS
1 pt. strawberries
2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (or your preferred type of chocolate chip)
2 tbsp. coconut oil

DIRECTIONS
1. Rinse strawberries and pat dry with paper towels.

2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

3. In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until chocolate is completely melted.

4. Dip strawberries in chocolate and place on prepared baking sheet.

5. Refrigerate until chocolate is set, about 30 minutes.

6. Eat and enjoy!

NOTE: You do not need to use the coconut oil. The coconut oil will make the chocolate harden stronger, forming a shell. This shell helps the chocolate stick better to the strawberries. The coconut oil is the secret ingredient that the candy shops do not want you to know about!

FUN TIP: You are not limited to only dipping strawberries! Remember, the chocolate is hot, so you do not want to dip something too small and burn your fingers. Recommendations include apple slices, bananas, and pitted cherries help by the stem.

Do not forget to apply Workman’s Friend Barrier Skin Cream before making the mess. The barrier protection will make cleaning your hands easy afterwards.
